Walk on down to Cook on Wok

Cook on Wok is one of those places that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. And missing Cook on Wok would be a shame. When you enter the unassuming storefront restaurant, you notice the décor is something out of a late-90’s restaurant catalog. And what’s with the name? I haven’t figured it out, either. Do not let the décor or name deter you, however. This is a restaurant well worth visiting.

Initial service might be a tiny slow, but once your drink orders are taken, things progress nicely. Cook on Wok offers two levels of Family meals, where you select two entrees and soup, and get a sampling of appetizers for a reduced price. The two levels offer different entrees and appetizers with the more expensive level offering an expanded selection of dishes.

The food is always freshly prepared. Even the fried rice is individually prepared to order. That’s a small detail, but a nice touch. It shows they care about the quality of their food. Special requests are no problem at Cook on Wok. I prefer my food spicy, and even typically non-spicy dishes can be made as hot as you like them.

The Orange Beef is tremendous and remains one of my favorites. It was sweet, crunchy and spicy without being hot. It’s difficult to get that balance of flavors without one overpowering the rest, but they managed it.

Portions are absolutely huge. Mrs. Vargas and I usually take home at least half of our food, which makes Cook on Wok not only a great meal, but also a good value. There’s nothing better than a few extra “free” meals of good leftover restaurant food.

If you’re a local, it’s worth the drive over. If you’re visiting Las Vegas and want to get away from The Strip and explore one evening, get out your map, find Stephanie and Warm Springs in Henderson, and enjoy a little local flavor. You won’t regret it.

Highly recommended.
